If I Could Take Us Back

If I Could Take Us Back

In whispered dreams where shadows lay,
If I could take us back to play,
And in each empty space beneath the stars,
I’d write "I love you" on gentle guitars.

For every tear that fell like rain,
Each whispered hope, each softened pain,
Flies of ambition winged in flight,
Catching glimpses of purest light.
But time, a thief in dark disguise,

Steals beauty from these longing sighs.
Yet know I never let you go,
A love that drapes time's ebb and flow.
Your laughter echoes in the night,
An angel’s touch that feels so right.
Though death may claim what I hold dear,

In memory’s arms, you linger near.
With courage born from depths of loss,
I rise anew; love bears the cross.
For through the tears that cloud my view,
A whisper calls: “I still love you.”
