Let it be. Let me be me. Nothing new.
In the cloak of the moonless night, I tread the solitary street,
Where shadows dance and whispers speak, where darkness and doubt may meet.
Yet amidst the quietude, a glimmer soft and low,
A beacon of hope that whispers, "Let your true self show."
O why can't you be you and I be me?
In this world where masks are worn so free,
Let us shed our disguise, let the truth be told,
Embrace it and let it flow, let our hearts be bold.
With each step, I take toward my door,
I feel the weight of expectations galore.
The masks I've worn, the faces old,
But tonight, I'll cast them aside, I'll be more.
The stars above, though few and faint,
Guide me through the murky paint.
Their light within, my spirit stirs,
A freedom song, an inner flame that burns.
O why can't you be you and I be me?
In this dance of life, why can't we be free?
To live without the fear of scorn,
Embrace it and let it be reborn.
The breeze, it carries secrets on its wings,
Of hearts that long to sing and fly.
I'll let it weave through me and through me,
Till I am just what I am, and nothing new.
