No second chance poem.

 No second chance poem.

He'd whisper sweet nothings, a silver tongue,
Yet underneath, a heart so wrong,
He'd lie and cheat, and never belong,
To the world of the decent and the young.
One strikes you are out, my dear,

Your key to my heart, no longer here,
In the game of love, you did steer
Wayward paths of deceit and fear.
One strikes you are out, no second cheer,
Our chapter ends, let the curtains clear.

With eyes so blue, a gaze so kind,
He promised love, a heart to mend,
But the devil's in the details, you'll find,
When the darkness does ascend.
He danced in the moonlit night,
A masquerade of pure delight,

Yet his soul was cloaked in spite,
And the truth was a treasure, not meant.
I gave him trust, a precious stone,
But he cast it aside, thrown,
For the thrill of deceit alone,
Leaving my heart to atone.

He knew not of the pain he'd bring,
As he sang his siren's song,
In the dance hall of the scorned and the wrung,
Where the innocent do belong.
But I am not one to be fooled twice,
My spirit does not pay such a price,

I'll guard my heart with a sacrifice,
And let no scoundrel near it, entice.
For the love that once burned so bright,
Is now but a flicker in the night,
And the warmth of his touch, a plight,
In the cold embrace of his lies, oh so tight.

So take your leave with haste, be gone,
The door is closed, the bridge is drawn,
The love that once was, is no more,
Only echoes of a love that was torn.
I'll keep the memory, but not the key,
To the heart that you did decree,
You're nothing but a scumbag to me,
Forever to be shunned, forever to flee.
